Meet Our Remedial Massage Therapist
A Q&A with Lucia Zevako
We’re excited to introduce you to one of our wonderful therapists, Lucia Zevako. With a unique background in physical therapy and remedial massage, Lucia brings both knowledge and care into her treatments. We sat down with her to learn more about her journey, her approach, and what inspires her work.
Q: Lucia, can you tell us about your profession?
I am a Remedial Massage Therapist with an interest in relaxation massage.
Q: How did you get started in this field?
My professional journey began in Russia, where I completed a degree in physiotherapy in 2007. I worked in rehabilitation with children with cerebral palsy and adults recovering from strokes. Later, after raising my family and living in Singapore for five years, I moved to Australia. Here I returned to my professional path and completed a Diploma of Remedial Massage in Wyong. I’m now a registered member of the Association of Massage Therapists (AMT).
Q: What first inspired you to focus on manual therapy?
During my university studies I attended a lecture by a physiotherapist who specialised in spinal care. That lecture really sparked my interest in hands-on therapy and showed me how powerful it can be in supporting people’s health and wellbeing.
Q: Why did you choose to study massage as well as physical therapy?
I’ve always been fascinated by anatomy and movement, and by how everyday habits like sitting, resting, or walking can have such an impact on our bodies. Massage gives me a way to combine my scientific background with practical, hands-on care to help people feel and move better.
Q: Are there particular areas you enjoy treating?
Yes, I especially like working with the neck, shoulders, chest, lower legs, and feet. These areas often carry tension or affect posture and balance, so treating them can be deeply relieving and balancing.
Q: What do you think makes your approach stand out?
I think it’s the combination of my physical therapy background with my remedial massage training. I bring a strong understanding of anatomy, but I also try to create a calm and supportive space for each person. I tailor every treatment to the individual in front of me.
Q: And outside of the clinic, what do you enjoy?
I love being creative. I enjoy drawing, making handmade crafts, and spending time walking in nature or local parks. Those things help me recharge and bring balance to my life.
