Graston Technique®
Graston Technique® enables the treatment of soft tissue dysfunctions such as, scar tissue and fascial restrictions. It comes under a relatively new form of therapy called Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM). The tools are made from stainless steel and comes in all forms of shapes, sizes, angles and edges.
As the practitioner glides the tools over the affected tissues, the practitioner is able to detect abnormal tissue textures through the tools. The abnormality is actually amplified through the instrument into the practitioner’s hands. Once the abnormality is detected the practitioner is able to manipulate that tissue using the tools to promote healing.
Conditions that can be treated through the Graston Technique® are typical soft tissue injuries such as tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and more.
Graston Technique® has become standard protocol in many universities and hospital-based outpatient facilities in the USA. The technique is also being used within the professional sports industry by the NBA, NHL, NFL, and Major League Baseball trainers.
This year Graston Technique® are celebrating 25 years as a specialised therapy. We will be posting facts and information about this therapy over the next few months, offered here in our clinic by Dr. Dennis Jang (Chiropractor).
