How can Chiropractic help?
Your Chiropractor will take a detailed history of your issues, including assessing your general health. Any x-rays or scans you have will also be considered in detail. The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as “spinal manipulation,” also called “chiropractic adjustment.” But our Green Point Chiropractors are also experienced with providing myofascial (muscle and fascia) therapy to help prepare the body for any adjustments required. Your Chiropractor will assess you thoroughly to determine what sort of treatment is going to be best for you.

What to expect from a Chiropractic Treatment

Assessment of Your Problem
We will take a proper and detailed history, and listen carefully to your answers. We will get to the bottom of what happened and why.

A Clear Explanation
It is crucial for you to understand what is going on and why. We will take the time to help you understand your issues and how they can be prevented or improved.

X-Rays Only if Required
If your issues require X-Rays or an MRI, we will refer you. We will then go through the results with you and help you understand what they mean. We will show you the pictures and explain them in simple terms.

Skilled Hands On Care
You will receive hands on Chiropractic care, which may include myofascial (muscle and fascia) therapy, hands on or instrument assisted adjustments, and other therapies. We will not beat you up or perform dangerous procedures.

Homework
The best results come out of team work. There will likely be lifestyle changes, advice on footwear or posture, exercises to do at home. Don’t think we’re going to do all the work!

Prompt Referral if Required
Treatment always starts with a “Trial of Care”. If treatment doesn’t create the improvement we expect, or if we don’t think Chiropractic care will help you, we will promptly find someone who can help you, and point you in the right direction.
Need a bit more detail about chiro?
Doctors of chiropractic may assess patients through clinical examination, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and other diagnostic interventions to determine when chiropractic treatment is appropriate or when it is not appropriate.
Chiropractors will readily refer patients to the appropriate health care provider when chiropractic care is not suitable for the patient’s condition, or the condition warrants co-management in conjunction with other members of the health care team.
In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition.
Chiropractic adjustments rarely cause discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours.
Consider consulting a Chiropractor if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Sciatica (pain, numbness, weakness or tingling down your legs).
- Shooting arm pain.
- “Pinched nerve” pain.
- Headaches, especially those that seem to be related to pain in the neck.
- Restricted neck movement, upper back movement or low back movement.
- Spinal muscle spasms.
- Stabbing pain in your ribs when you breath in deeply.
- Pain in your legs or arms when you cough or sneeze.
- Pain in your pelvis, spine or spinal muscles while pregnant.
